Screen Response Time Test

Evaluate your display's ghosting, motion blur, and pixel response characteristics

1. Motion Test

Observe moving objects at different speeds to detect ghosting and blur

Motion Test Results

Test not yet run. Look for:

  • Ghosting: Trailing images behind moving objects
  • Blur: Smearing of moving objects
  • Color artifacts: Strange colors during motion

2. Pixel Transition Test

Test how quickly pixels change between colors (black-to-white and between colors)

Black ↔ White

Tests fastest possible transition

Gray Transitions

Tests intermediate transitions

Color Transitions

Tests between primary colors

Transition Test Results

Test not yet run. Look for:

  • Response time: How quickly the transition completes
  • Overshoot: If colors overshoot before settling
  • Inverse ghosting: Temporary inverse images

3. Fine Motion Resolution

Tests how well your display handles fine details in motion

Fine Motion Results

Test not yet run. Look for:

  • Detail preservation: Can you still see the grid pattern?
  • Pixel crawl: Strange pixel behavior during motion
  • Uniformity: Consistent motion across the grid

Understanding Your Results

Interpreting Response Time Characteristics

Excellent Performance (1-5ms):

  • Minimal to no visible ghosting at any speed
  • Sharp transitions between colors
  • Clear fine details in motion

Good Performance (5-10ms):

  • Slight ghosting at high speeds
  • Minor blur in fast motion
  • Most details preserved

Average Performance (10-20ms):

  • Noticeable ghosting and blur
  • Some overshoot in transitions
  • Loss of fine details in motion

Poor Performance (20ms+):

  • Severe ghosting and blur
  • Slow, muddy transitions
  • Complete loss of detail in motion

Note: These are visual estimates only. Professional measurement requires specialized equipment.
